Lower Gastrointestinal

The Lower GIT includes most of the small intestines and all of the large intestines. The small intestine includes the duodenum, jejunum and the ileum whereas the large intestine consists of the cecum, colon, appendix, rectum, and anus. The main function of the Lower GIT is absorption of nutrients from the food we eat and elimination of the undigested waste material. Diseases of the lower GI tract include : Rectal and colon Cancers, intestinal motility problems, intestinal obstruction, and appendicitis.
